Top Rap Songs From Tupac to NasMore of the Best Songs Hip Hop has to OfferThese are some of the the "must-have" songs that the serious rapper fan must have in their collection.
Beanie Sigel - Feel It In The Air“Then pull they strings, you tha puppet master f*ck them other bastards/Man watch who you puffin after/Play ya cards, go against all odds/Shoot for tha moon if you miss, you still amongst those stars” Even if you lead a boring life this song will make you feel like trouble is lurking around the corner. Beans does an excellent job of putting the listener in his shoes and executes the delivery of his message with pure perfection. “My Spidie senses tingling.” Tupac – Brenda’s Got A Baby“I hear Brenda's got a baby, Well, Brenda's barely got a brain/A damn shame, Tha girl can hardly spell her name/(That's not her problem, that's up ta Brenda's family)/Well let me show ya how it affects tha whole community” Whatever word one uses to describe the late, great Tupac Amaru Shakur, they can never, ever come close to an accurate articulation of this man’s pure genius. He is the only rapper to show every side of a man; the lover, the fighter, the friend and the foe and not lose credibility on any front. “Brenda’s Got A Baby” is the perfect example of that. Jay-Z ft. Eminem – Renegade“Maybe it's hatred I spew, maybe it's food for the spirit/Maybe it's beautiful music I made for you to just cherish” Nas claimed Eminem “murdered” Jay-Z on this track and there may be just a wee bit of truth to that. Sure, Jay held his own, but it is Eminem’s heart felt, soul derived lyrics that put this song in the category of “Classic.” Just listening to this song again will make the listen write Em a personal note begging him to finish he new album. B.I.G. – Suicidal Thoughts“When I die, f*ck it I wanna go to hell, Cause I'm a piece of sh*t, it ain't hard to f*ckin' tell/It don't make sense, goin' to heaven wit the goodie-goodies,Dressed in white, I like black Tims and black hoodies” Ready To Die is a classic album, period. But, this song (the album’s last track) came from the late MC’s soul. He speaks of things that most people have thought at one point or another but he actually had the balls to put it on wax. Nas – It Aint Hard To Tell“Deep like The Shinin', sparkle like a diamond/Sneak a uzi on the island in my army jacket linin/Hit the Earth like a comet, invasion/Nas is like the Afrocentric Asian, half-man, half-amazin” He drank Moet with Medusa and gave her shotguns in hell on this track. Nas earned every one of his 800 monikers through this one track alone. Not sure? Pop this “Illmatic” in, skip to this song (you can go back when you are done), roll down the windows, and drive. It is truly one of the best songs the Queensbridge MC has ever written. Bun B ft. Scarface, Young Jeezy – Pushin“I'm on the corner from sun up to sun down/Competition gettin' hectic, I'm headed for out of town/ What I was, sellin' for twenty, n*ggaz sellin' for ten/So I'm bout to take it to drastic measurements for my ends” Those who don’t understand or really listen to hip-hop don’t understand how much of an effect it can have on one’s life. Feeling down on your luck? Are things just not going right? This track will help you get through. After all, there is no such thing as giving up because you just have to keep on “Pushin.” The question now becomes: What’s songs are included on your life’s soundtrack? For Ideas see Rap's Top Five Songs.
