Jay-Z holds a spot as one of hip-hop's most featured guests, recording with Coldplay on "Lost," on Rihanna's "Umbrella" and on T.I.'s "Swagga Like Us," among many others.

A prominent figure on hip hop’s main stage since 1996, Jay-Z has reined as one of rap’s most popular guest verses his entire career. Recording with the Notorious B.I.G. and DMX early in his career, Jay-Z has transcended boundaries and musical genres as his fame rose. He’s recorded an entire EP with rocksters Linkin Park, and continues to set vocals alongside some of music’s most notable names.

“Lost,” Coldplay featuring Jay-Z

Returning the favor of many-time producer Chris Martin, responsible for Jay-Z’s “Beach Chair,” the rapper holds sway amid heavy drums and organs on Coldplay’s “Lost (Jay-Z Remix).” The song features on the band’s 2008 EP Viva La Vida Prospekt’s March.

“Put On (Remix),” Young Jeezy featuring Jay-Z

On the non-album remix to Young Jeezy’s hugely popular “Put On,” Jay-Z replaces Kanye West to joke about auto tune, and features the raps: “I put Marcy on the map / I put Brooklyn on my back / I put fat back on the tracks / I put Biggie in my raps.”

“Mr. Carter,” Lil’ Wayne featuring Jay-Z

On Lil’ Wayne’s best selling 2008 The Carter III, Jay-Z adds vocals alongside like-surnamed Wayne and beats produced by Just Blaze. Jay sets the stage for Wayne as his heir, as he raps: “I’m right here in my chair / With my crown and my dear / Queen B as I share mike time with my heir.”

“Black Republicans,” Nas featuring Jay-Z

The long-awaited collaboration between rap’s long-feuding legends Jay-Z and Nas finally happened on 2007’s “Black Republicans,” featured on Nas’s Hip Hop is Dead.

“I Do It For Hip Hop,” Ludacris featuring Jay-Z and Nas

Another pairing with recently signed label-mate Nas, Ludacris’s 2008 offering Theater of the Mind, abounding with big names features, features perhaps the two biggest on this track, which features the three rap giants owing respect to their industry and career.

Featured on 2008’s Notorious OST, Jay-Z pays homage to the city that birthed and raised not only himself, but slain rap legend The Notorious B.I.G.

“Best Thing,” Usher featuring Jay-Z

Usher’s 2008 comeback album “Here I Stand” featured not only rap contributions on the standout single “Love in the Club,” but a love-minded Jay-Z with an opening verse on “Best Thing.”

In addition to the slew of 2008 features already mentioned, Jay-Z lent vocals to T.I. on “Swagga Like Us,” which paired the rapper with Kanye West and Lil’ Wayne as well; he added vocals alongside wife Beyonce on 2006’s “Crazy in Love”; on Rick Ross’s 2007 “Maybach Music”; on Outkast’s 2004 “Flip Flop Rock”; on Rihanna’s hit “Umbrella”; and on Lupe Fiasco’s 2006 “Pressure” from Food and Liquor.
