Jay-Z's Blueprint 3 brings hits "D.O.A.," "Run This Town," "Jockin' Jay-Z" and "History." The album features extensive production from Kanye West and and no Auto-Tune.

The highly anticipated 11th album from legendary rapper Jay-Z, The Blueprint 3, will be released on the eight anniversary of his all-time great Blueprint album. The album is to feature much high profile Kanye West production, as well as beats from producer No I.D. Set to become another plaque on Jay-Z’s long line of success, The Blueprint 3 will likely further cement his status as one of the greatest of all time.

Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3

The Blueprint 3 will be released on the heels of the highly successful Kingdom Come and American Gangster. The album represents a number of albums that will push Jay-Z past official 2Pac releases, and well beyond any other current rapper.

The album is expected to feature much Kanye West production (such as “History,” “Run This Town” and “Jockin’ Jay-Z”), as well as possibly beats by Timbaland. Featured artists on the album will include the up-and-coming rapper Drake and past collaborator Rihanna on “Run This Town”, who worked with Jay-Z on her single “Umbrella.”

Also featured with Jay-Z on The Blueprint 3 will be another up-and-comer, Kid CuDi, and rhythm and blues singer Mr. Hudson.

Kanye West production

Kanye West has himself proclaimed that he makes a year’s worth of beats every year – high, album quality tracks. Because he is not producing an album this year, these tracks were all reserved for Jay-Z and The Blueprint 3. Comparable to the Kanye West production featured on Common’s Finding Forever, the songs on The Blueprint 3 have a jazzy and bluesy sound.

Kanye West produced “Jockin’ Jay-Z,” “History,” “D.O.A. (Death of Autotune)” and “Run This Town.” Other tracks on The Blueprint 3 expected to feature Kanye West production are “Everyday A Star is Born,” “She’s Like That All The Time” (featuring Mr. Hudson), “Off That (featuring Drake) and “Forever Young” (also featuring Mr. Hudson).

“Jockin’ Jay-Z,” “Run This Town,” and “D.O.A. (Death of AutoTune)”

The first three singles from The Blueprint 3 by Jay-Z have been some of the biggest radio singles of 2009.

“Jockin’ Jay-Z” is a song featuring Kanye West production that sampled a Run D.M.C. song. The track featured a rocking instrumental with a jazz horns and a distorted chorus samples. Jay-Z used “Jockin’ Jay-Z” to respond to Oasis member Noel Gallagher.

“History” and “D.O.A. (Death of AutoTune)” were the second and third singles from the album, both also featuring Kanye West production. The songs respectively celebrated the election and inauguration of Barack Obama and lamented the state of auto-tuning and voice-boxing in hip hop.

Jay-Z responded with this single, and by removing all auto-tune from The Blueprint 3. “Run This Town” is an epic Kanye West beat with a chorus sung by Rihanna and two Jay-Z verses proclaiming that they “run this town.”

The Blueprint 1 has stood as a hallmark of rap success, earning the highly coveted 5 mics in The Source magazine's review section, while The Blueprint 2 earned the rapper some of his largest hits. Fans can expect The Blueprint 3 to follow in a line of Jay-Z successes that have taken the rapper to the short list of the greatest ever.
