50 Cent built a career off controversy and crushing his "weaker" counterparts. But it seems the karma Gods are getting him back as the star is losing his luster.

50 Cent clawed his way up from the mixtaper circuit to the silver screen, but has made many enemies along the way. From beef with rappers like Ja Rule and Jada Kiss to accusing Lil Wayne of stealing his song "Candy Shop" the rapper seems to ruffle feathers where ever he goes. But is his confrontational nature contributing to the demise of his career?

50 Cent Not In Trailers For “Righteous Kill”

A recent report suggests the rapper’s declining appeal in the “urban market” is the reason he was cut from the promotional trailers for his new film “Righteous Kill” featuring two of Hollywood’s greatest actors Robert Deniro and Al Pacino.

“The real reason the studio cut Curtis out of the campaign is because their research and exit poll information showed that 50 actually was not the urban or young demographic box office draw they were hoping for,” read the report. “50 basically can’t draw in the core demographic that used to but his albums sell by the millions.”

LL Cool J Drops Song With 50 Cent From Album

In addition to the rapper being cut from the promotional trailers for his own movie, veteran rapper LL Cool J recently announced he cut a song with 50 from his new album “Exit 13.”

“I’m not releasing the album he and I were working on,” LL said. “I took a few songs for ‘Exit 13’ and scrapped the rest. That’s due to the fact that I don’t think people want to hear me rhyming like 50.”

The track, “Feel My Heat Beat,” was rumored to be the album’s first single. But the rumor was quickly dismissed when the current single, “Baby” featuring The Dream, began pumping through radio airwaves across the country.

Although LL gives other reasons for the cut, industry insiders are blaming it on 50’s weakening urban appeal, which LL is in desperate need of in order to reclaim his self proclaimed title as the G.O.A.T. (Greatest of all time).

50 Cent To Retire?

On July 22, 2008, Meditakeout.com reported 50 might be retiring from the rap game soon. According to the urban gossip giant, 50’s alleged retirement is due to reports of a lingering beef with his label, Interscope Records. 50’s upcoming album “Before I Self Destruct” will be his last under his current contract with the label. That fact, coupled with his frequent appearances on the silver screen have some fans believing the rumors.

“I just don’t see 50 Cent coming out with another album… at least not here [at Interscope],” an alleged insider told MTO. “After critics see Curtis Jackson in the film [Righteous Kill] he won’t have to rap any more.”

The question now becomes: With 50’s popularity and credibility on the decline, can he really sell a million copies of his album “Before I Self Destruct” as he promised a few weeks ago?
