Dancing with the Stars premiered last night on ABC. But can the show's cast stand up to the stiff competition and twists of the unprecendented season?

The seventh season of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars kicked off yesterday, once again proving American’s obsession with famous people is undying.

The Premiere Of Dancing With The Stars

The three-night premiere event of Dancing with the Stars began last night with 13 new stars vying for the coveted mirror ball trophy. During the first week of the competition, all thirteen teams must prepare two routines (one of which they performed last night). The judges scored the routines and viewers casted their votes and one couple will be eliminated tonight. The remaining cast members will hit the stage tonight to perform their second routine. The judges and viewers will again give their feedback and another couple will be sent home on Wednesday night’s show.

Viewers have two ways to vote. AT&T subscribers can cast their votes by texting the word “VOTE” and the number of the couple during and up to 30 minutes after the show. Viewers can also go online and vote from the opening of each episode until 12:00 Noon, ET the following day.

The Stars On Dancing With The Stars

With the largest cast in the show’s history, this season’s 13 contestants are facing come stiff competition. The line up goes as follows:

Toni Braxton – The six-time Grammy Award winner has sold over 40 million records worldwide. Her U.S. number 1 hit, “Un-Break My Heart” still holds the spot as the second biggest single by a female artist in history. Her partner in the competition is Alec Mazo.

Lance Bass – One fifth of the uber-successful boy band NSYNC, Lance has sold over 50 million records. He also has executive producer and starring credits in a number of film and television projects. His memoir, Out of Sync, was released in 2007. His partner in the competition is Lacey Schwimmer.

Brooke Burke – A host, actress, entrepreneur and mother of four, Brooke has grace the covers of many men’s magazines and even has her own swimsuit calendar. She has appeared on countless TV shows including Less Than Perfect, Las Vegas, and The Bernie Mac Show. Her partner in the competition is Derek Hough.

Rocco DiSpirito – After gaining national exposure on his reality show The Restaurant, award winning chef Roccocontinued to please pallets all over the world. His next reality show, Rocco Gets Real, is set to air on A&E in October. His partner in the competition is Karina Smirnoff.

Maurice Greene – The winner of two gold medals at the 2000 Sydney Summer Olympics, Maurice was dubbed the “World’s Fastest Man.” He also won silver and bronze medals at the 2004 Athens Summer Olympics. His partner in this competition is Cheryl Burke.

Kim Kardashian – After exploding on the scene in the now infamous sex tape with Ray J, Kim has moved on to pursue a career as an actress, model and reality TV star. She recently appeared in Disaster Movie and can also be seen on Beyond The Break. Her partner in the competition is Mark Ballas.

Cloris Leachman – Cloris Leachman’s story can be told by listing the awards she has received throughout her career as an actress—nine Emmys, a Golden Globe, and an Academy Award. In 2008, she has had her hands in three different films, The Women, American Cowslip, and New York I Love You. Her partner in the competition is Corky Ballas.

Cody Linley – The youngest DWTS contestant ever, Cody is best known for his role on Disney’s Hannah Montana. His partner in the competition is Julianne Hough.

Susan Lucci – As one of the most famous women in daytime TV history, Susan is best known for her role as Erica Kane on All My Children. Her partner in the competition is Tony Dovolani.

Misty May-Treanor – The second Olympic gold medalist on this season’s show, Misty captured her second gold medal this summer in Beijing. Her partner in the competition is Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

Ted McGinley – As a successful actor, Ted has appeared on Married with Children, Happy Days, Love Boat, Dynasty, Sports Night, Hope & Faith and many other shows. His partner in the competition is Inna Brayer.

Jeff Ross – Also known as the “Roast Master,” Jeff has delivered jabbing jokes to William Shatner, Hugh Hefner, Donald Trump and others. His partner in the competition is Edyta Sliwinska.

Warren Sapp – This record breaking defensive lineman and Super bowl Champion played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Oakland Raiders during his 13-year career. His partner in this competition is Kym Johnson.

ABC’s Dancing with the Stars airs at 8:00 p.m., ET.
