50 Cent Removes Tattoos, Talks Album ReleaseQueens MC Moving on with Movie and Music Career
50 Cent says he's going to be removing some of his tattoos for his new gig as an actor, in addition to focusing on the release date for "Before I Self Destruct."
In a recent interview with MTV News, 50 Cent burst the competition bubble, saying his album is in fact going to be released on September 29. In the meantime, he says he’s going to keep his music in the streets with mixtapes flowing back to the core audience that set his star into orbit. “I don’t have the ability to do that," Fif replied when asked why he releases the tapes at a fever pace. “You have to set up records now, position them at radio. I get frustrated with that sh*t. Sometimes I just want people to hear what I just did. I be like, ‘This sh*t is hot,’ I want it out now. So I'mma just start giving it away.” Despite his generosity, 50 says his fans will have to head to the store to pick up Before I Self Destruct, something he thinks will come easy given the “perfect” product he’s created. "My album — it's perfect, I feel," he said. "I'm ready. I'm ready to put this album out. I really don't need adjustments. I need a few songs to be finished, mixed. Dre, he drags his feet. He's slow, but it's because he's so creative. He's gonna make sure it's perfect. I'm never mad at it. I understand that process from him. But for me, I kinda go on my gut. Ain't nobody pick 50 Cent records. ‘Wanksta’ went on its own. They caught up to my records. The only record they launched was ‘In da Club.’ When we was all on deck and they launched it. Even going back to the last record — ‘I Get Money’ was going at a great pace, then ‘Ayo Technology’ fell on top of it. I had all of the records that sold the Curtis record laying there the whole time. I was just like, 'I can't put this out until after I've done this.' My core, if they can't expect aggressive content or that content that feels like what's going on for them at the moment from me, then who can they get it from?" In addition to working on the album, 50 is also working on various film projects. In an effort to support his budding acting career and in the interest of time, the rapper says he's going to remove some of his tattoos. “I took some of the tattoos off because on the movie set, if we got a six o’clock call time, I have to be there two o’clock the night before,” 50 Cent told AllHipHop.com. “I gotta go through four hours of make up before we go ahead and play the role. So, I just took it off my arm. My right arm." His body still bears his trademark “50 Cent” and “Southside” tattoos on his back. 50 is said to be hard at work on the set of the upcoming film Streets of Blood with Val Kilmer, Sharon Stone, and Michael Beihn. In light of recent reports that he would be going head-to-head with Jay-Z on a September 11 release date, 50 Cent has come forward to clear up the details about Before I Self Destruct.
